Tendai Changadeya

Rooted in the traditions of Zimbabwean stone sculpture while simultaneously engaging contemporary artistic discourse, Changadeya's work investigates the relationship between spirituality, memory, transformation, and the impermanence of human existence. His practice draws from the symbolic language embedded within Zimbabwean cultural narratives and explores how material can communicate experiences that exist beyond ordinary perception.

Although solely focused in stone sculpture, his recent body of work has expanded toward material experimentation. Characterized by abstract swirls, curvilinear forms, fragmented spaces, and surreal imagery, his work examines the tension between permanence and transience. He frequently combines traditional and unconventional materials, including stone, wire, leather, found objects, and other tactile elements, to create layered visual experiences.

His artistic research is informed by theology, philosophy, and indigenous knowledge systems, particularly the ways in which spiritual consciousness influences human understanding. Through abstraction and symbolism, he creates works that encourage reflection on identity, mortality and the unseen dimensions of existence. Alongside his studio practice, Changadeya has been involved in arts education and community engagement through workshops and mentorship initiatives. His practice continues to evolve through experimentation with materiality and interdisciplinary approaches, seeking new ways to position Zimbabwean artistic traditions within contemporary global conversations.

Picasso Leon Siziba is a Zimbabwean contemporary visual artist from Filabusi, based in

Bulawayo. He studied Art at Mzilikazi Art and Crafts Centre from 2021 to 2023 and has

since developed a distinctive artistic practice focused on portraiture, mixed media, murals

and contemporary visual storytelling.

His work explores identity, memory, human experiences and the complexities of history

and personal narratives. Picasso is particularly recognised for incorporating fragmented

and puzzle-inspired elements into his work, using them as visual metaphors for the

different pieces that form an individual’s identity and story. His practice also draws

influence from cubism, realism and abstraction.

He has produced commissioned portraits, murals and artworks for individuals,

organisations and cultural institutions, while participating in exhibitions and cultural

programmes in Zimbabwe. He is a resident artist studio holder at the National Gallery of

Zimbabwe, Bulawayo, where he continues to develop his practice and engage with the

local art community.

Picasso’s work seeks to create visually compelling conversations around African identity,

culture, memory and everyday human experiences.

Tinashe DeWolf is a Zimbabwean visual artist based in Manicaland. He has grown under the close personal mentorship of great Zimbabwean artists and curators such as Chido Johnson, Judy Mutunhu and Georgina Maxim.

Tinashe's practice combines expressive portraiture and narrative painting with a uniquely African interpretation of Impressionist mark-making, exploring contemporary Zimbabwean humanity.

His work has been exhibited in Zimbabwe, the USA and Europe and is held in institutional, private and public collections. His painting "Faith Musango" was recently displayed at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe. His most recent 2026 commission, "The Zambezi Born," is a three-panel, large-scale work created for Tiger Bay Lodge, celebrating the Batonga people.

In 2025, Tinashe received the prestigious Best Art Award in Germany, where he was recognised as the only African artist to win an award in the Portrait category.

In 2026 alone, his work and career have so far been published locally and internationally in ZNyaya, ZimNow, Youth Village, Diamond FM, Art Muse Express, Art Today, Art Insight and Project High Art.

Tinashe also mentors young artists through local art clubs and supports community arts initiatives at Village Unhu and Fair Acres Community Gallery.

Pardington Dube is a Zimbabwean multidisciplinary visual artist and graphic designer whose practice explores identity, culture, personal experiences and contemporary visual expression. His creative work spans drawing, painting, graphic design and mixed-media approaches, with a strong interest in translating artwork into accessible visual forms and merchandise.

In 2026, Dube presented his first solo exhibition, marking an important milestone in his artistic journey. He has also collaborated with students from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) and has exhibited his work through platforms connected to the National Gallery of Zimbabwe. In 2025, he participated in a graphic design skills competition at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), where he received first prize.

Dube is currently developing “Echoes In Motion,” a project that continues his exploration of movement, memory and visual storytelling. He is also developing a limited-edition socks merchandise project, transforming selected artworks into wearable designs and extending his practice beyond conventional exhibition spaces.

With a career spanning over a decade, Kapadza has established himself as a central figure in the contemporary African art scene; Exhibitions featured in over 105 group exhibitions globally and 9 solo exhibitions.

Kapadza is a recipient of prestigious honours, including the National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA), Intwasa Art Festival, Wild geese Art Festival, Visual Artist Association of Bulawayo (VAAB), German Embassy and the National Gallery of Zimbabwe (NGZ).

ARTIST STATEMENT

His work is rooted in the lived experiences of Zimbabwean communities. He uses acrylic painting to address three interconnected themes: environmental protection, the preservation of culture, and the impact of online scamming on society. Born in Gokwe and working from Bulawayo, He draws inspiration from both rural and urban life. His environmental works highlight our duty to protect land and natural resources. His cultural pieces celebrate identity, heritage, and everyday rituals. His recent works on online scamming confront fraud and deception in the digital age, aiming to educate and warn. Through both intimate and large-scale paintings, he seeks to create art that is visually engaging and socially relevant.
