Gideon Gomo

Gideon Gomo is a sculptor and assemblage artist whose practice is built on a profound engagement with material, tradition, and the hidden lives of objects and people.

He works predominantly with springstone, itself a cornerstone of Zimbabwean artistic tradition, but he does not reproduce that tradition so much as inhabit it critically, bringing the stone into conversation with metal, copper sheets, wood and found objects to create large-scale sculptural interventions belonging simultaneously to past and present.
